Default Think I have found the Culprit!!!

There has been an Old White Tranny Van parked up here for the last couple of days.
It was parked near to where mine was the other night when the damage was caused, so I went and had a gander at it. (my car has white paint scrapes on it)
Surprise Surprise, there is what appears to be Metro Blue paint scrapes on the offside rear and the tail light has been freshly broken - there is clean sticky tape over it.
Its out at the moment, but when it appears back later, going to take some pics of it for evidential purposes.
Should I then throw the reg number of the Transit to my insurance company and let them handle it? Or should I inform the police? Cant see them doing a lot unless there is CCTV evidence (which Im viewing tomorrow).
Im pretty sure that this is the Im offending vehicle so Im going to keep my eyes on it!

probably explain the situation to the insurance company and see what they suggest . They might take a punt and try and start their proceedings in the hope he just confesses . Police wont do nothing i'd imagine .

I would go to the police once you have got the picture's (not that they will do anything but at least it'll be logged), but also let your insurance company know too, as you never know the van driver may report it and say you hit him!

There are some right dodgy people out there, so get in before he gets wind of the police being involved, so at least your insurance knows the score.

    Cheers guys!

Pretty certain its going to be that one - ins company are aware of it - and want me to view CCTV if I can.
Going to take some snap shots of the van damage and paint marks. It looks battered anyway, but that dark marking on it is quite fresh. Doesnt look like the sort of vehicle that is either registered or insured either.....

Ins company have said dont try to speak to the owner, just pass us the reg and we'll box off the rest with claim etc etc

Sound like a plan! TBH its probably wise to avoid confrontation, we all know the issue's people have with road rage and what not, so just let them deal with it!

Lets see if the owner / driver throws their hands up when confronted eh? Might be interesting to see what happens - might prevent me losing a fortune in excesses and premium increases!

You can check (for example) if your own car is insured online.
