Default One Wiper Broken what is the law?

Only the driver's side wiper is working, the other is sitting at the bottom of the screen doing nothing. I assume a broken linkage but my question is can I drive the car for a week in that condition or does it need fixing ASAP to keep within the law.

    Thanks

law will state something like "system for clearing screen of rainwater for safe visibility" and I would say having half the screen not clear is an offence. However if you Rain-x your screen you hardly need wipers for the first couple of weeks anyway. Screen self clears, use rain-x you know it makes sense.*

    * I love rain-x as you might have guessed.

When at work if one of the wipers on a bus is'nt working it has to be fixed because its a defect that VOSA would pick up on.
Domestic cars are not as strictly looked upon but its most likely illegal.
You would have to be unlucky to be seen in a week though.

if its fitted then it has to be working - anything that can or could cause an obstrcution to your visibilty is detremental to your driving - if you had an accident - you would be hard pushed to get your insurer to pay out

every vehicle on the road must meet a certain standard of road worthiness as set out by The Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations 1986 and The Road Vehicles Lighting Regulations 1989
It is an offence if your windscreen, windscreen wipers and washer bottles are not in good working order

or maybe this would be a "lighter thought" if the police turned up at your door and told you that someone had killed a loved one because their windscreen wipers were not working but they decided to drive it anyway, how would you feel -

could be considered as driving a vehicle in a dangerous condition by police
especially if driven in the wet! no method of clearing spray from the road or other vehicles.

    rant over

    Andy K.

What do you mean about a zip tie?

Is it easy to fit, I am a complete novice unless it's got a computer.

    Thanks
