Default I just dont get it.....

I was at the 'Focus on Image' show at the NEC this weekend with UKAnalyst and Commonrail Man off here...

We were talking with Olympus and Cannon reps on their stands and BOTH companies are INCREASING prices on their camera range. One camera is going up by £2500 !!!.. just for the body (with no lense)

Are we in a recession or what !!

u only need to look at the supermarkets to see prices are still rising its the strength of the pound to the euro & dollar it is so weak their buying power has gone hence big price increases.

I was toying whether to go along to Focus myself this year - decided it was a bit of a slog at the mo' - easy for you though.

Regarding prices, yep lots of manufacturers are hiking up prices as the £ is much weaker against the Yen/Euro/Dollar - take your pic!! lol

Which camera had a £2500 increase? Can't have been a DSLR surely? - must've been a medium format body at least?

Yup, thats what the Canon rep said on the stand. He reckoned it would RRP for over £8,000 after March 09

I'm sure someone at the show was selling the body new at £4,700 'ish... the Canon rep pointed it out and said it would be a bargain compared to the new prices

    hell! Pardon my French.

Do you know if the same applied to the 5D Mark II? If so then I might get in now and get one to upgrade from my 5D.
