    Default booked in for cambelt

hi got my vec booked in on thursday, 85k on the clock on what i believe is the original belt!
having belt, tensioners on waterpump changed for £210 plus vat so about £245. seems a good price after doing a search on here.

i bought the car 2 weeks ago and one of the rear brakes is squealing when breaking only (drivers side i think). had a quick look yesterday pads look ok- prob about half worn. did a search on here with people recommending a bit of copper grease? mentioned this to be done when they do the cambelt, however the mechanic says it may not work as pads can become glazed?
not heard of this before, can anyone shed any light. he has quoted £55 for rear pads if needed. not quoted for discs until he inspects.

if pads and / or discs are needed is it advisable to just change the rears or should they be done on the front at the same time?

thansk for any advise before thursday.
