Was wondering if anybody had any ideas or has had similar issues. I have a 2004 GSi. I think mine was a friday afternoon job as everything that could go wrong with it, has.
Anyways I was wondering if any of you could answer this... I have a strange high pitched whistle that is dfinately coming from the rear of the lump, and when my head is under the bonnet I could swear it is coming from sort of around the steering linkage area where the coloumn is joined to the rack. It isnt anything to do with the rack, its just thats whereabouts it sounds like it is coming from. Initially I thought it could be the air/throttle flow meter in to the left of the head, but I am not so sure. The reason I though it might be this is that it only really happens when the car is warmed up, and only up until about 2000 revs. Sometimes it is louder than other times, and the pitch is high enough to win one man and his dog. I presume it is not the exahust a this would tend to blow and make a different noise to the one I am describing I should expect. Nothing is rubbing, the belts have all been sprayed to check. I dont think it is the inlet manifold either - does anyone else have any clues or has anybody else has a similar problem ....... is their an official vauxhall doctor in the house ? !
I would appreciate some imput all !!
(apologies for any spelling mistakes I have just done a week of nights and trying to brave days out straight after my last night !!)
