rubbing noise?

2008 Vectra diesel 120. 700 miles on the clock

Hi

I have what I can only describe as sounding like a clutch thrust bearing noise but mileage should rule this out so I was wondering if this was normal.

Ok this is when it happens, in first gear traffic moves off and a few revs goes on but the traffic stops again so instead of changing up I just slow down again in first and thats when I hear it. It lasts for a split second only and sounds like a low moan or a bit like rubbing of an old fashioned drum brake but as I say only for a split second.

Obviously its still under warranty but wanted to know if its a normal noise for this car before mentioning it to the dealer.

Answer to my own question but posting up as it may help others in the future.

I had to take a 200 mile trip today which has more or less added a third to the total mileage. It looks to me I had been treating the engine/clutch/gearbox a little to gently. I have given her a bit of a workout today and the noise has gone so I am hoping its gone for good.

Trouble is I am from the old days when cars had to be run in and I find it difficult not to treat them gently when I get a new one
