    Yup no messing.
TBH it had been tiled on the original plaster from the 30's so we took one tile off and the plaster was bone dry so its all come off ready for plaster boards.

Good job. Same thing happened in our house (mid-20's build) - one tile off and the whole lot came away - we took ours back to the brick on two walls when replacing the suite abt 4 yrs back - the other two I'd done when we bought the place nearly 11 years ago and had removed some boxing around the pipes - had the same effect on the old sand-like plastering! We also rebuilt the airing cupboard, plus plasterboarded and skimmed the ceiling to cover some crappy artexing - but must've missed priming a couple of the galvanised board tacks cos they've just popped the skim plaster off.

It'll look better for it with everything freshened up. Just looks a bit spartan right now - ours was at one point a dusty box with a tank in one corner (plus a couple of random pipes mid-air that originally fed the power shower) and the soil pipe sticking through the wall in the other...
