Confused by InSp & Service Schedule..

My car was service by Vx last march.

I think it is/was on the ecoflex plan - where the car monitors itself and tells you when it needs a service

So, I over the last few months I have been pressing & holding the trip meter when getting in to see when the next service is due. The trip was showing 2000 miles (and counting down, I assume) to the next service

On Friday I got in and 'InSp' just popped up on the dash!! - it must have done about 100 miles max since I last checked the service count-down . I thought it was supposed to give you at least 600 miles notice irrespectoive of service plan?

Anyone else had this?? I am confused to say the least...

does it have a number next to it .?..could be bulb warning or flat remote batt or even water in the fuel if its a derv ...

You don't get a number when it goes to INSP

If you switch the ignition on INSP appears then disappears after about 30 seconds
This is the first stage warning that your car requires a service, within 1000 miles

If you switch the ignition on INSP appears and stays on
This is the final stage warning that your car requires a service, within 500 miles

I typically book my car on for a service at the first stage, as that means I have about 2 weeks left

InSp does indeed stay on for about 30 secs

Looks like my service countdown mileometer had just 'clicked' down from 2000 miles to 1000 miles then!
