Default Query for any MOT testers out there.

In preparation for my MOT tomorrow I gave the car a quick once over last week. Took the pads out greased all the slider bolts and guides and some on the pads to stop the squeal I was getting. When I got to the front pads they had hardly any wear on them. I noticed the low pad warning wire had been rubbing and was through the sheathing, but still working fine. Today the low pad light came on! I know what has happened, the stripped wire has shorted itself on the calliper and induced the warning light. Its intermittent, but what happens if it comes on in the MOT test tomorrow morning? I will tell the Tester the pads are nearly full, but is it a fail if a warning lamp comes on in the dash? Any qualified advice most appreciated.

They'll be able to do a visual inspection of the pads. The brake test rollers will confirm all is OK.

IMO, I don't think the brake pad warning light will affect the MOT.

Or take the wheel off and join the two pad wires together, should make the light go out.

EDIT - if it does fail, which I doubt it won't, you can replace thesensor after the MOT and take it back for a free re-test. Be honest with them, tell them what's happened and your good intentions.
