Default 1.9cdti 120 or 150 Which Would You Choose

Hi, im currently looking for a 1.9cdti and i have one big question due to all the problems on the 150bhp model what would you choose the 120 or the 150?

also is there a 6 speed gearbox on any of the 120 models?

Pretty sure the 120 is also a 6 speed. I'd get the 120 as the 150 is too much of a time bomb for me.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

The 150 isnt all that bad TBH. Sure, mine has had the EGR and Swirl valvves done, but all in its warranty.

FOr the number that are out there, there arent really all that many problems, as this must be the most popular engine in the Vec-c Range.

    About 160 from a 120 and 180-200 from a 150.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

That is the main problem. You could be looking at 1000's if it all needed doing at your own expense. the 150's seem to be very good or very bad. Its too much of a risk for me, so i went for the daddy and got the 3.0 v6!

I wanted that engine - just couldnt really justify the extra expense on the Tax and initial purchasing costs.
Drove one, and it is a fantastic lump!

I had a 120 SRI CDTI and at the same time my dad had a 150 SRI CDTI and lets just say there is no comparison. I dont know if it were just my 120 that was cack, but I wouldnt buy another 120 again. IMHO it was sooo underpowered. Even with the foot planted to the floor, it used to feel like about a 90bhp.

The 150 my dad has, has had some issues, mainly with the EGR valve, swirl valve, DPF, DMF, but its all sorted now and once they are done, they are awesome.

The one I had just totally drove me away from the 120. I now drive a 130 vec-B and even though it only has 10 more horses, just feels more meaty!!

    Bye bye Vec B

Not a lot on the initial costs as its a bigger engine so people are staying clear in favour of the smaller more eco friendly lumps. Not sure why £80ish A YEAR would put you off with the tax. £210 this year, £260 next and £270 after that IIRC.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!
