    Default FAO kean detailers

I clean my vec once a week and my new cdti has a few light scratches. i bought some meguires scratch x paint restorer which seemed to work well but i didnt get a chance to wax the car after as it started raining.

Parked up in tesco car park a few days/100 miles later and noticed under their lighting that there is lots of what i would call swirl marks? loads of circular scuff marks especially on the bonnet. I cant help but thinking im doing something wrong as the scratch x stuff was supposed to get rid of swirl marks.

Any ideas would be great. Thanks tom

i take it that u polished the car by hand? too be honest all the products out there on the market as polish ie; auto glym super resin polish and megs scratch x only fill the scratches not remove them,as u have experienced after a few miles the fillers in the polish comes out of the scratches then hey presto the scratch re-appears.to remove the scratches defo the swirl marks u will need to use a machine polisher with some decent polish compound like megs #80 glaze or poor boys ssr2.0 then follow with a good coat of wax and then u have a nice swirl free finish but machine polishing isn't the easiest to grasp but saying that it is nothing to be affraid of either.hth

lump is the right man for this sort of advice.helloooooooo lump

basically the Scratch X has grit in it, and then you rub this onto the paint work, to remove scratches you wear away the top coat. so you need to use a less abrasive compound polish etc until its very smooth. just using scratch X will not finish the job
