Default 3.2 auto g/box going to neutral

Is there any way to stop the auto gearbox going into neutral when stopped? I find this extremely annoying as it is necessary to wait after taking my foot off the brake until the gearbox re-engages before accelerating. Failure to wait results in the gearbox engaging at higher revs which must be placing strain on the drivetrain.
At present I engage the handbrake and take my foot off the brake to get it to stay in gear.

This is an Australian (Holden) Vectra 3,2l. A great car to drive other than this truly awful feature.

What does it say in the manual?

    From the manual:
    "Neutral Idle Control.
This feature is designed to reduce fuel consumption. The automatic neutral shift function is activated when:
    - the shift lever is in D or manual mode
    - the foot brake is engaged
    - the vehicle is stationary
    - the accelerator pedal is not pressed, and
    - the transmission oil temperature is greater than 0 degrees C.
Once the brake is released and the accelerator pedal engaged, the automatic neutral shift function is deactivated and the vehicle moves off in the usual maner."

That is all the manual has to say on the subject.

I like most other things about the car, actually the 3.2 litre engine with a manual gearbox would be great but I don't think they sold that combination in Australia.

All Vecs in Mexico had that "feaure" disabled....it causes more pains than goods......I´m almost sure you can turn off that with TECH II.

Feature is added to all newer Auto boxes by nearly ALL manufacturers to prevent burning out the torque converter, which is very costly to replace. On older auto boxes you are supposed to engage Neutral manually when stopped at traffic lights/heavy traffic.

This has been around a while now and I had it on all of my Auto Omegas from R reg upwards. I just put it in N at the lights or when waiting and then just into D when ready and off you go, easy.

How can I found if my auto neutral working when logging. What I can see is when D is engaged, actual gear shift is 1-6, however never "neutral". Except if manually engaged Neutral.
I find this extremely annoying as it is necessary to wait after taking my foot off the brake until the gearbox re-engages before accelerating.
I was feeling the same 3 years ago when I got my car. It is my first auto-gear box car. Now I do not feel this anymore, Is it broken or I just used with this delay.
Something more when my car should be on auto-Neutral my fuel consumption (0.9-1.4ltr/h) is higher then in Neutral (0.5-0.8l/hr), this causing my doubts if it really works.

In D when stopped it should be trying to creep against the brake.. It should take up drive quickly when you press the accelerator, if it isn't then your gearbox is ****ed. In N it is completely disengaged.

So if you want a quicker getaway keep it in D. Other than that I don't get what you mean by "neutral" if you're not in N.

When car is in "N" - neutral fuel consumption is less then when the car is:
    – The selector lever is in D or manual
    mode
    – The foot brake is depressed
    – The vehicle is stationary
    – The accelerator pedal is not actuated
    – Transmission oil temperature is
    over 0°C.

Is it normal. When logging the car via OBD it showing Actual Gear from 1st to 6th but never neutral! Will upload log later...
