Default Any ideas??? Service for 3.0CDTI

I have had my 3.0 Estate since January this year and just last week I had a letter from the dealers saying your car is getting near due for a service, ie: first regitered April '05 so near as dammit 12 months old. I rang and spoke to the service manager and explained that the car has done approx 9000 miles and is this neccessary?, his response was I should wait 'till 20,000 miles or 1 year from when I purchased it. I was happy with that so thought no more about it until today when I dropped in to the same dealers to pick up some oil,....I mentioned the above to another service chappie who suggested that I should have it done before the car is a year old. Me and my big mouth! So my question is does anybody know as the service guys clearly are a little unsure. My real worry is I am paying for the Network Q to run until the warranty expires and don't want to jepordise this, also I don't really want to fork out £130 for what is essentially an oil change. Any advice appreciated.

Bite the bullet and have it done, if your engine goes bang and you haven't had the service they will wiggle, warrenties are insurance and every insurance comes with clauses.

Not too fussed really if it's done now, it's another 20,000 miles before it's due again so no real worries I suppose. My real gripe is i've been told 'not yet' by the service manager and 'now' by someone else! Also he was unsure as to what service type the car left the factory with....ie: Ecoservice or Ecoservice-flex, as I understand it could of been either? In which case it may/may not be due.

I would phone another dealer. whilst mine is a petrol, I went to my local dealer and asked to book mine in for its first service, at one year old, it had only done about 5000 miles then, The service manager said you are one year too early, your servce interval is two years or 20,000miles, so I took it in last month, when it was two years old, I would ask them about the network q but I would have thought it would not make any difference, just that I belive the network q is abetter warrenty than the 3year manurfacturs warrenty.

I'll make a couple more calls see if I can 'get it from the horses mouth'....the other thing i'll mention is I thought I had to have 5w30 fully synthetic, and duly took a bottle to the counter but was steered toward 10w40 semi as it was only for a 'top up'.........!

Just Vx being pedantic in the manual mate, I've used their semi 10/40 for yrs now, never had any trouble from the mill in that time, and that ranges from Diesel to V6.

Calm down lads!............like I said earlier, i'll ask the question again and try and get it clarified if poss'......it really does seem a little 'grey' to me. I am happy to pay for a service if I NEED to, ie: in order not to invalidate the extended Network Q. If I don't have to have it done, then i'm happy to wait until 20,000 miles.....the car is running faultlessly after all.
