Budapest - Cheap as chips and gorgeous place...

Even cheaper - Bratislava (capital of Slovakia) 50p a pint, £2.00 a meal

I went to Slovakia and Budapest a couple of years ago - they're similar to Prague as cities but without all the commercial touristy cr4p...

Bratislava is more for the seasoned traveller, so if thats not you - I suggest Budapest...

went bratislava last year for my brother's stag, very nice place but be careful where you go as its one of the very popular palces to go on stag / hen weekends - although when we were there we probably on saw one other stag group.

couldn't find a pint for 50 p to save our lives!! food wasn't fantastic either. maybe it was just the places we were going though. our hotel was on the main square and it is such a nice place.

I've allowed a bit of inflation on there too - we were eating out for £1.50 and beer was around 20p in the pubs, 15p a bottle in supermarkets and you got 3p back if you took your old bottles back too...loved it - 1 month of heaven, wish i'd stayed there..

It wa actually a place called Sahy an hour or so from Brat, that prob why prices were so differ...

    Default Mini-break

Berlin mate. It is fantastic. Stax of history and culture if that is your bag and if not then loads of bars, great food and beer and the prices are decent too. Fly into Templehof and get a cab from there to your hotel. The Best Western just off the Ku Damm is excellent and not expensive either, it is only a short walk from there to the centre of the city. Do not stay in what was East Berlin before the wall came down. it is not as up to speed as the old west nor is it as well situated for all the good things in life. Look it up on the internet and try British Airways for a decent flight deal. If you incorporate a week end they were doing specials from Heathrow.

If you do decide to go there and want any further info then give me a shout as I lived there for two years and my wife lived there for six years.

Try RIGA the capital of Latvia it has a very old city, not well known by the west yet but it will be the place to go for short breaks, there is plenty to see and plenty to do, and it is cheap, 34centims for a 1/2 litre of beer, Larisa and I had a fish and veg meal and a pint of beer each and it only cost 5 LATS [£5] for the both of us, Transport is cheap too, set fare of about 25centims[25 pence] for a bus ride any stop from one end of the route to the other.I would highly recomend a trip there for anyone, it will become popular soon, just wait and see now it is part of europe.
