    Default which tyres

hi i have got vectra cdti facelift with eagle nct 5 215/50r17 looking to replace tyres ,can i fit 225/45r17 tyres as they are listed in handbook in tyre pressures section ?the 225 size tyre is actually cheaper than the 215 so if they fit ok then i will get more tyre surface on the road at a cheaper price .

Yup, it's one of the most common mods around mate. Just make sure you change at least 2 on the same axle, or all 4...

I have Goodyear F1 GSD3 225/45/17 all round on my car and they really have improved traction, except when there is snow on the ground.
I also get alot more rear tyre noise coming into the cabin and quite alot of what I think is tramlining.
Next time though I will look at another make but keep to the bigger size. Falken tyres get alot of praise on here

got the GSD3s here too... cheap, grippy, bit of road noise as said, but a much better tyre and will improve the ride.

The wider the tyre the more it will tram line over all the
uneven surfaces, the reduction in the wall size can make
    for a harder ride to ! I've found the 215 50 17 are a good
    balance for the sri.

Maybe but if you go to 225/45r17 then you get a wider choice and cheaper as well plus its only a smidgen difference between the sizes so wont make that much difference to the ride IMO
