Default HELP PLEASE: Battery Flat due to radiator electric FAN cutting in.

Hi again to the great team on Vec-C.
Im really puzzled to a recent fault with my 2004 Vec-C diesel.
K&N Filter and chipped etc etc.

One week ago, I went to use the car as normal and noticed there was an initial problem as the central locking was inoperative.
Then getting in the car, no dash lights either , battery as dead a a Do-Do.
Thought with the bad weather it may have just been the battery u/s.

However: Upon jump starting in the freezing cold snow, the battery charged as normal but noticed one of the electric radiator fans spinning away at full steam.
Strange when car not used all day and sat in the snow !!!!!!!

Got car started all ok, but fan spinning away non stop even when the ignition and engine all turned off, hence I pulled the plug off to stop it flattening the battery again.

Went to see my local mechanic who re-fitted the plug and checked all fuses, all seemed OK.
    Car driving and charging fine.............................................

Been like that all fine for a week now, however this morning, moved car to let my wife off the drive and came out 2 hours later.
Damm fan spinning away again and battery half flat.
Used a jump pack to get it going as mechanic told me previously not to jump start off other car ?????? (WHY) and pulled the plug off again.

Car still driving and charging fine but this time have a car/ spanner sign lit up intermittant on dash.

Can anyone of the experts on VEC-C give me some advise on the above please ?

    Kind regards Gary.

Probably the Temp sensor needs to be replaced....it is probably dead and sends the signal constantly for the fan.
The spanner sign turns on with the car and disappears after few seconds? if yes don't worry its telling you a faulty start up was registered.
BTW when a battery its about to die it causes several glitches all around, make sure some mechanic do a proper check on it to be on the safe side.

Cheers for that info, will give it a try, hoping to get vehicle plugged in to get a possible fault code too.

I thought the temp sensor opens the thermostat and the cooling fan module on the radiator takes care of the fan.

No relay mentioned in the Haynes manual just a battery then 50a fuse then direct to fan control module and then to fan/s.

    Default fan fault

Cheers guys will try replacing the fan module to see if that solves it, strange thing is, when reconnected plug the fan only cuts in when engine hot at usual temperature and then goes off again, still I can not risk it coming on at leisure when the car is parked up and draining the battery yet again.
    Gaz.
