Default Aftermarket Brake Discs and Pads - Help!

Hope someone out there can reassure me?

I read in one of the forums how good 'Vauxhall Car Parts' were. I checked out their website http://www.vauxhall-car-parts.co.uk/ and it looked impressive with all of the parts appearing to be genuine VX parts. At £40 for a set of brake discs it seemed brilliant so I ordered both front and rear discs plus the pads for my Vectra.

They arrived today and guess what they're NOT VX branded! The pads are 'Trupart' the front discs are 'Rotortech' which is apparently part of 'Trupart' the rear discs are completely unbranded. On closer inspection it says on the website that any part with an 'N' suffix is not genuine VX however the description of each part starts off ... 'This is a new Vauxhall Part'. I feel a bit miffed to say the least. I've emailed them and i'm awaiting their response.

Anyway, i'm now wondering whether to fit them or not. Trupart are based in Doncaster and have a fairly impressive website but VX they ain't. I wouldn't have minded if the parts were a well known brand like mintex.

Has anyone ever fitted any of these parts? If so how did they perform? Should I be worried?

In some ways I feel I should send them back but the postage will be £20 on top of the £19 i've already spent on carraige and that's if they agree to take them.

I think you might have to just swallow this one and learn from experience - the website clearly says if they're NOT genuine parts their number ends in 'N'. Guess what the stock number for vectra pads is?

Thank you Diet1985!!!!!! So it's not just me!

Not very obvious is it? The stuff about the N prefix is actually on the home page with all the blurb. There's nothing next to the parts themselves except 'new Vauxhall part'. So if you miss it on the way through to parts pages you've had it! I guess the lesson is to read every last detail before ordering - you shouldn't have to though should you?

The annoying part was that I only spent all of this money because I thought I was getting genuine stuff, otherwise i'd have gone to a local motor factor and saved on postage.

I paid using Paypal by the way.

Taken from the VX Car Parts site, http://www.vauxhall-car-parts.co.uk/...01-Brakes.html, you can read this as "it's a new part for a Vectra", ie. not used or "a genuine VX part sourced from VX", ie. self explanatory.

Very misleading if, like I did, went straight from their home page to the brake disc page and bypass the bit that mentions "N=non genuine".

The important bit missing I think is "OEM". Personally, I'd bring this to the attention of Trading Standards and get their views. If I'd purchased items as Angelchops did, I be a tad miffed as well.

EDIT - had a look at all the parts on this page http://www.vauxhall-car-parts.co.uk/...ice_Parts.html and there's not a single genuine VX part. All have "N" after the part no.

It is misleading as every part says...

New Vauxhall Part ~~~ Now to me that says GENUINE part!

    I'd be miffed aswell!

This company are really starting to pee me off, even though I haven't bought from them .

The cheeky wotsits are even using VX part numbers but prefixed, in this example, by 2! http://www.vauxhall-car-parts.co.uk/...n_Filters.html

Sorry, ParaPaul already covered this above.

Mmmm! Looks like it's definitely not just me.

I think i'm going to stand my ground on this and go for a refund including carraige costs. If I don't get any joy i'll drop a line to Trading Standards about the misleading website and raise a Paypal dispute.

To make matters worse i've just checked the Brakes International website recommended by vecgsiboy. I could have had Brembo disks for less than i've paid here!
