Default would this cause my spanner light to come on

Spanner light has been coming on for a couple of minutes in a morning then goes off, when I turn ignition off and on again, the light does not reappear. There is no effect on the running of the car i.e. no loss of power, lumpiness etc. Took the EGR valve off today and found this lot inside, solenoid plunger was free to move but gave the whole thing a good clean, its done 99k miles so was due a decoke anyway, but would this be the cause of the spanner light? Its a cdti 120, was going to check the glow plugs but they look buried as thought they could be at fault.

Even though there didn't appear to be any probs before cleaning, there certainly is a difference in driving now,its as though the car has just cleared its throat, sowt a speak. Much smoother acceleration.

Sometimes the EGR valve will remain slightly open (due to carbon build up) without registering a fault or may show an occasional flicker.Even a slight seepage of Exhaust gas will dilute your fuel mixture, particularly at full load, full throttle and at idle when the valve should be completely shut.

Sorted the spanner light and it was these little devils, glow plugs. Took car to Precision Engines of Doncaster who diagnosed and replaced the plugs for me. just tried it this morning and no spanner light on. I assisted in replacing them and if you want to do the job you'll need a 1/4" drive 10mm long socket, long extension that has a 1/4 drive that allows for slight misalignment of socket. A telescopic magnet for picking up stuff when you drop it and you will. A couple of long screw drivers to remove an replace the connectors and away you go! Takes about an hour. The hardest bit is replacing the connectors.
There is no visible breaking up of the plugs like you used to get with older diesels so I suspect its a voltage drop issue its picked up.
