Default My new Sony - with USB & wheel controls

So my OEM unit has gone and the new Sony is installed - and the sound is remarkably improved, even without any external amps or any change to the speakers from standard (speakers are next I guess).
Why? Well the old CCR2006 (with changer and cassette) was starting to falter playing even commercial CDs (it disliked ALL brands of CDR) and there was no MP3 playing capability without messing with FM transmitters or wierd wiring.
The Sony CDX-GT929U has an aux input on the front panel (but I am not an iPod user yet) and a rear USB port as well as being able to handle MP3 on CD/CDR/CDRW. It is also steering remote compatible so I ordered an adapter and facia from Incarmart (Ebay store) for £30 (steering adapter), £15 (rubber-touch facia panel). For reference, the adapter is a Connect2 unit and the adapter does ALL the connections so no other ISO adapter is required.

Everything fits and everything works - straight out of the box, with no swapping wires, messing with multimeters or anything - including keeping the date and time display on the Vectra panel.

The rear USB is on a trailing lead presumably so that you can put your external drive in the glove-box perhaps - but I had different ideas.
I had already cut a hole in the top right hand switch in order to mount my iPAQ (with TomTom built in) after the screen mount broke. I mounted a bracket on the switch instead - but it didn't really work in that position so I bought a new screen mount.
This left a round hole in the switch - so I decided to hack away at it a bit more to fit a USB socket.
Since the round hole still showed, I covered the switch front with a piece cut out of electrical heatshrink which I now need to apply a little heat to in order to remove the uneven front.
So I now have a USB socket in the dashboard in which I can plug my memory sticks - conveniently stored in the cubby of the new facia.
Pictures - if I can upload them right - show the completed installation...

    Default Hmmm

Let's not go overboard with the compliments - this is about as good as it gets! I'm too old to start messing with changing dash colours and massive neon amps in the boot.
