    Default Black Smoke When Accelerating

    I have a 2.2dti Vectra, when ticking over the exhaust emmisions are fine but when i rev the car black soot like smoke comes out, also the eml light comes on some times and i lose power but when this happens there is no black smoke. Any suggestions please.

    Sounds like air problem to me.

    Are any of the boost hoses or pipes split (may just be a small split that only open when on boost)

    As above, split boost hoses are common on all the dti's - first 1 that usually goes is the one to the left (into the intercooler) as you are looking at the engine bay.

    Checked the hoses and they are fine, the garage said boost pressure control or turbo wastgate, is this right where would i find these.

    It's at the back of the engine bolted to the turbo, they can stick & are vac operated so you might want to check all vac tubes & pumps too.

    Could be gummed up boost pressure sensor, or sticking actuator / leaking vacuum pipe.

    Thats my next guess. Pop the boost pressure sensor out and gently give it a clean

    Could just be a dirty exhaust ? Lol only joking sorry!!
