    Vehicle : Jaguar XF 3.0D V6

    Trim : Black

    Engine : 3.0D V6

    Year : 0000

Default Had 2 front tyres fitted on Saturday

    I went for the Avon ZV5, 215/55/R16 - V93 rated.

105350 miles, so I'll see how long they last but it seems to have cured the front end wobble I was experiencing. £75.90 each fitted and balanced with new valves.

Out of pure interest mate, did you get a price for 225/45's...? They're always meant to be cheaper as they're more common...

I thought the 225/45's were only for the 17 inch wheels?

was told by a garage, that 225/45's wear out quicker than 215/50's

I was talking about the 17" tyres mate, missed the vital point that Ste has 16" ones...

And my 225/45/17's have lasted ages so far, I suspect the garage just knew that they were cheaper than the 215/50/17's so tried to put you off buying them. There's no reason they wouldn't last as long, all other things being equal...

225/50/R16 were marginally cheaper, but the rears are 215/55 too, so thought it best to keep all the same and as VX specify.

I know the 225/45/17's are mentioned in the VX handbook, no idea about the 16's though. I had the different sizes on fron and rear for a few months (wider on rear) which I believe is legal, just not if you have the different sizes on the same axle.

Can't fault your logic on both counts though.
