the question is to get or not to get a front splitter for the pre facelift? pro"s and con"s help needed. what tyres are out there,
the car will be lowered very soon,so are there any problems with speed bumps and low kerbs at the end of parking spaces etc...

    Pros.

If well done it will look better

    Cons.

It will make the car harder to sell because most people outside of car clubs will see it as Modded and will walk away

It will cost money to paint which should be factored into the total outlay.

You should tell your insurance which may effect the premium

Ferries can be a problem as can steep car park ramps.

If poorly done it can look bad.

Depends how much it's lowered and how much attention you pay to the kerbs and speed bumps you encounter. I scraped my XP one within days of getting it. Luckily it was just a surface wound.

I would agree on some of the points that have been said. (will cost quite a bit of money and will look better once done.)

    However these are my views:

    > As long as you get it professionally sprayed & fitted (if not confident enough) it's very hard for it not to look like it's done well.
    > If you go for the Irmy one (or the replica) they actually don't sit as low as the grey plastic thing.
    > The Irmy splitter (or replica) simply slot into place (then a couple of screws underneath to stop people nicking it) which means that they can be removed with ease and your original fitted again when you come to sell the car.
    > I told my insurance company and they didn't care, their words were "it doesn't change the performance of the car in any way so we will not charge you any extra on your premium."

So i would say if you want one then go for it mate

Yep agree. Cost me Zilch to add the spoiler and alloys but they were recorded on to the policy. But others have been charged more as it depends on the insurer.

When I changed cars to one which had the full VXR body kit on they wouldn't insure me at all.

I've seen some **** jobs on painted splitters/spoilers too. My mate nearly decked the sprayer when he cocked up some additions he made to his Evo VI. Same guy did a great job on my VXR spoiler though.

It is true, you take your chances with the guy you get your splitter sprayed by. He did a good job on mine but i've found a small (10mm diameter) bubble. But he told me to bring it in and he'll take care of it for me. My other advice would be that if you think that the spraying is cheap then it's probably not going to be done properly. good luck
