    Default Emails and viruses

I am not very clued up on how viruses/worms/trojans etc work, so maybe someone can help me?

I keep getting emails from myself? Usually advertising Viagra and the like.

With subjects of "your order" "Thanks" "Order completed" etc

Also about 30 a day from just random names and subject like:

"Become a strong man" "Forget about stress"

Iam more worried about the ones coming from my name? How can I stop them?

    Thanks

You can't stop them.. unless you change email addresses, but then they'll probably start again. You'll find that there not actually from yourself as well. If your mail client has a decent filter it will catch most of them.

They won't be coming from you such - they've made it look like they have either by having your e-mail address in the 'From' line but if you look at the actual headers you'll see that it's a completely different address - or they've spoofed it to make it look like it's been sent by you.

Apart from getting anti-spam software etc, simply ignore them and delete them. You could also have a word with your ISP to see if they have better spam solutions in place - which may be an extra charge. Do not ever be tempted to reply telling them to Foxtrot Oscar etc. as all you will be doing is confirming that your e-mail address is active and valid and you'll get even more spam.

Yes you can, you just need to know how!

It really depends on where they are coming from
Take a look at the headers
If you are unsure then PM me some examples of the headers

    Mailwasher
It's free and checks your mail before you get to it... You can 'teach' it what's spam and what isn't (although it knows what most of the spam is) so you never ever have to see it again...

getting the header info won't really help, as the email is already there.. for every one you sort another will be in your inbox.

Granted over time you may reduce them, but a decent filter will do that as well.

Since these emails are not spam and neither are they infected with an email attachment the ISP has let them through
Forward them to freedom to surf for blacklisting
I have stripped out the IP addresses and HELOs to help identify the source
