confused How long do points last on your licence?

Hi, sorry if this is a stupid thread to start but everywere I look, and everyone I ask I get different results

The problem is I goit 6 points for IN10 ( no insurance ) in 05 - not as bad as it sounds, mate fought it and won due to insurance documents saying one thing, then another....wish id fought it.
The same time i got 0 points but a fine for speeding - sp30, though no insurance company seems to understand why I got no points but nevermind...
and last year i got a sp30, speeding, 3 points.

How long does it take before these dont matter anymore or affect insurance, or total up to creating a ban if im done again?

From what i remember from my days with 12 points, they were valid for 3 years but had to stay on your licence for 4

Anything that will take you above 11 will involve you going to court and expect a ban unless you have a VERY good reason why you should keep your licence.

Which is how i managed to keep my licence with 12 points

^Should be everything you need to know there.
In summary, the points stay on the licence 4 years for offences like speeding, no insurance etc.
11 years for very serious offences.

Yep, they are valid for 3 years but cant come off for another year.
However, you need to declare them to your insurance for 5 years . And this effects the premium for the 5 years.

And even the police were confused by my insurance ( F`in elephant lol ) and he took 6 off me and charged me £200 more, i did offer another £200 for tghe other 6 but he just laffed hahaha worth a try

"If you build up 12 or more penalty points within a period of three years, you’ll be liable to be disqualified under the 'totting-up' system. This is shown on your licence as TT99."

So for once i was actually right, valid for 3, stay on for 4
