    Question Fitting new turbo to cdti 150hp

    Hi, I'm going to fit a new turbo to a 56 plate 150hp Vectra cdti, so wonder if anybody have got any tips, Do's and don'ts.

    yes, 78000 miles, collected car from garage today. only thing there havent been replaced on this car is the stering wheel

    There's something about bleeding the oil through the turbo, not sure how it's done. I don't think it's a case of bolting on and starting up.

    replace the oil inlet banjo bolt it has a gauze filter that can block this is normally why the turbos fail ....also change the oil and filter ....

    Any tips on how to get oil to the turbo before I start the car up?

    Warm the engine up (i take it the car runs). do an oil and filter change first, but don't start the car after you've finished. Remove your old turbo. To prepare the new turbo, see if you can get hold of a syringe and top it up with engine oil (Garrett turbos come supplied with one), use this to gently introduce oil into the intake hole (not the oil return hole) whilst turning the turbo impeller. This 'primes' the turbo. Fit a new banjo as described above, or at least make sure it is spotlessly clean. Swap any parts over onto the new turbo and fit to the car. When you're done, start the car and make sure the oil pressure warning light goes out within a second or two. If it stays on, switch off and investigate why. Once running, let the car idle for 2 minutes without revving it up, whilst checking for oil leaks etc. If all's well, take her for a spin
