    Thanks Caprimanuk That was the reply I was hoping for , It was just that on another site someone was told to check the cam belt condition on his Dti & no one had put him right. Goes to show he's not on the best site.

    Without a doubt it's a chain.

    I'm not sure what it was on the earlier 2.2DTi's (i.e. Vec B's)

    1.7DTi is belt, the 2.0DTi and 2.2DTi are both chain.

    hello, does anyone know how easy it is to check the timing belt is getting oil on it???? read this can be a problem and am about to go from leeds to cornwall, 2.2dti sri

    without removing the chain cover, there is no real way to check if the sprayjet is oiling the chain..unless it's clattering ( chain) like a whatsit then you should be getting oil to it..regular servicing ( every 10-15K miles) will always help it..
