Unhappy which jump leads should i buy/use?

Like a true donkey I left my lights on all day. Now the car will not start. I have jumped cars before so am not worried about that. But i left my old leads with my old car soooooo... The options i have are below:

    1) buy a £26.99 set of leads that are for bigger engines (150 cdti)?

    2) Buy a set of leads for £29.99, which although a bit thinner are meant to be safer as they have surge protection. Never heard of this for cars, but have been told they will be safer for my ECU??

    3) Borrow my friends leads, which are quite thin, he told me he thinks they're for 1.4 or 1.6 petrols. I remember reading somewhere that the thickness didn't matter too much as you could leave them on longer or something (or did i make this up in my head...)?

    4) Try and borrow/buy a charger (as don't most of these have a starter setting?)

Not sure which is best, don't really want to spend money i haven't got but then i need something that will work lol.

    Many thanks, as always...

    Lew

Thick leads are better. thin ones have heated up in the past and not that good for jumper TBH
