    Default Getting another vec,which one

getting another vec very soon but only spending about £3000,but which engine is best in that price range,my dad has a 1.8 which is reliable but quite slow and the emission light comes on and stays on and then goes off quite frequently, obviously 2.0t is alot more expensive and not to sure about diesels and just read a thread about a 2.2 losing water,in your opinion which engine is best, would have a 3.2 but not to sure what my trade insurance would say cheers for replys in advance

    which is best?
it's like asking what lager is best, you'll get 36 different answers. my 2.2 petrol had a timing chain problem, but not the usual one due to tensioner/wear, apart from that, it's great. quick, smooth and economical, cheap insurance too. the 2 litre turbo ones don't seem to be complained about too much on here, so they must be pretty good. i don't really like diesels, so i'd rule those out. the 3.2? buy very cheap, because i would think they aren't a cheap car to run, and the way the economy is, i can't see potenial buyers fighting each other on your driveway when you come to sell it.

I've had a 2.2 Direct for 4 years now.'Yes' I had a few problems with it (just check my posts ) but really like the car. It's in black and when it is cleaned and polished (not often enough) it looks great.Cruises on the motorway and can shift when revved hard, insurance is pretty cheap and econonmy not too bad either. Like the previous post,I too have had timing chain issues, bad enough to cause an engine failure, but this was picked up by Vx.At 60k now and have no plans to change it.Depreciation is horrendous and I'd be lucky to get £3500 for it now but don't want to part with it for the time being.........

2.2 dti is a lovely smooth engine but I would have the 1.9cdti mated to the 6 speed gb if I had found one.

By March 2009, you should be able to buy a pre-registered Vectra VXR for £3000 the way things are going
