Default Would this be a good deal....?

I've decided, as much as I love the 2.0 Turbo, the fuel costs are gonna cripple me as I've started to o a lot more miles with my recent change in occupation...

I've found a couple of SRi CDTi [150]'s in Lightening Silver and Ultra Blue, for £10,999 on an '05 plate...... I think thats a good price, and I'm sure the exra cost will more than pay for itself over the next 3 or 4 years that I intend to own it for.

Whats everyone elses thoughts on this??

Sounds like a good deal to me - especially if you're going to be doing more miles. Fuel is getting to be so expensive, you might as well get as much as you can for your hard earned cash.

That settles it then.... I've talked myself into it, and with a little guidance from 'the experts' I think the decision is final.... watch this space, probably gonna take me a few weeks to sort it all out.

Gonna have to get a spoiler for it before I get the tuning box, just so it doesn't feel too different from the one I have now!!!!

I'm in a similar situation with my 2.0T... Strange thing is, the Vectra is quoted at around 32.5mpg combined. That new Cadillac BLS, also with the SAAB 2.0T unit and six speeder can apparently do 37.2!

Back to the original question, when you factor in the money you're going to lose on the p/x value, you're going to have to do a lot of miles (ie fuel savings) in the diesel replacement to recoup the couple of grand you lose on the low p/x you get on the 2.0T.

I guess it all depends on whether you really just want a new car, the maths will never add up on trading in a nearly new car. The cheapest car is the one you've got. Sorry for being a spoilsport!

Marc.... I didn't buy the 2.0t from new, and got a very good deal on it, so I will be losing less money than you would think.

The economics of it are that I will be doing nearly 3 times as much miles as I was when I decided I could afford the 2.0t, and from the mileage returns I have seen the CDTi 150's on here getting, I will be saving a considerable amount over 4 years (working on the assumption of approx 25-30% more miles per tank), plus if I'm getting a newer model, I can keep it longer.

I've looked at other options, such as LPG conversions or a cheap 2nd car for the miles and the Vec as a weekender, but the economics aren't as good as just running one car, with a diesel engine!!!!

I do 400 miles a week roughly Jamie give or take 50, my bill going from the 2.2 auto Omega has reduced on average by £35 - £45 per week with the 2.0 DTi Veccy, 75% traffic town work 25% M-Way etc

And a shade under 11k seems about the asking for that model mate, might want to try ebay, after i signed for mine I found another Design with leather and less miles for the same money, as long as the car is serviced and less than 3 yrs old 60k it doesn't matter about where you bought it, it's covered by every Vx dealer anyway, do get an HPi though crucial before you on it..
