Default DIY Oil and filter change 2.2 Direct

Just looking to see if it worth the mess/hassle/cost Vs Peace of mind ?

National Tyres do a fully synthetic oil (The Edge) and filter change for £33.50 (£35 - 10% booking online). However the last time I got this done, my engine failed shortly after.Coincidence maybe, but as you cannot see what is going in to the car,it would be very hard to argue your case should anything go wrong.I was lucky enough that Vx picked up the cost. On the flip side,to buy 5L of The Edge oil and a filter would cost more than what National charge

How do they do it? Is it easy enough to do yourself i.e getting access to the filter

They buy the oil in bulk, hence the cheaper price!! Although it may be fully synthetic is it the right oil for your engine??

The Castrol Edge Oil doesn't meet the requirments for my engine (Z22SE) which is GM-LL-A-025.

Dead easy mate. Filter is the black plastic bung with plastic nut on top to the right hand side of the throttle body, its an element type with almost no spills when you extract it. You can get the proper VX fully synth for £20 from AutoVaux.
