Seems rather high to me mate...

My car... 2002 (so alot older than yours!) 2.2 Sri Hatch
All standard apart from upgraded ICE.

Me.... 29yr old, 9 yrs NCB
G/F....24yr old... 6 yrs NCB and her own car policy

My insurance, fully comp via GoCompare with £200 excess came in at £296.59 with both myself and the girlfriend on the policy.

Have you tried GoCompare et al? I used to use Adrian Flux when I had my MR2 but then found they were ripping me off compared to Sky Insurance who I switched to with the MR2 (it was heavily modified).

Its the points, its surely got to be the points! Have you tried a new quote online without the points? Me and the GF on the Signum I'm nearly 26 and a named driver, she's... a bit older LOL, with 5 years NCB, kept on the drive, all mods declared, no points... We pay just short of £500 all in, including breakdown, legal, replacement car and NCB protection. We're with Tesco's.

In fact just had a look - its £464.31, we're up for renewal in March, so will hopefully drop again.

Doh, and our excess is £100.

What mileage is that on a year?
    What class of use?

I have Class 2 Business use with 30K miles a year, nil excess, 10 years NCB, and I am paying £500 a year

It seems expensive to me but unsure as to how the points load the policy.

Mine is £330 with business use £250 excess with Elephant. The girlfriend got hers down from £350 to £220 with wait for it, the Postoffice!

Typically policies don't increase in price until you get to 6 or more points, or for certain types of offence codes
However, it is the undiscounted price that increases substantially

The breakdown cover might also add a further £50, depending on type of policy
