    Default Dealer moan!

I have just dropped my car off at a dealers to have some warranty work done, you would have thought I just asked them to replace the whole engine free of charge.

I'm another one who has this, lack of power syndrome below 2k revs, all i did was search on here and made a few notes to help the mechanics along with, so i gave the service manage a piece of paper saying that they may want to check :

    EGR Valve
    Swirl Valve
    Inlet Manifold

The guy said to me very abruptly, "Well, if you knew anything about these cars, you would know the EML would come on if any of these causes were the problem, which it doesn't, so it can't be, now leave it to us experts"

Although i wanted to simply nut the chap, i just gave a pleasant smile and acknowledged the fact he new everything about them, oh i would just love it to be one of the above faults, but dealers, why is their customer service so terrifically poor, i may just mention to him when i collect it that i was going to order a new Insignia from them, but have decided to take my business elsewhere

    Ahh, feel better now!

Don't mention buying an Insignia - they've heard it all before. Instead go for a test drive in one with the salesman, tell him what spec you want, get a trade-in price for your current car, negotiate a discount on the Insignia, THEN say "changed my mind as your after-sales service is quite poor".

When visiting a dealer, NEVER tell them what to look and inspect
Simply give them the symptom and a deadline
When the work is completed go for a short test drive
If the fault is still present go straight back and arrange a road test

If you are still dissatisfied request the area engineer attends and examines the vehicle, this is usually between two and six weeks later

Dealers called me, it's the EGR Valve.

    What did i tell them!

Anyway, sarcastic response from them, they can't get one for 2 weeks so i'm not better off.

The dealership is WJ King in Gravesend, HOPELESS !!!!!

If you have two VX dealerships within such a short distance, contact your existing one and get the warranty claim number then contact the other one and advise them of the claim number
Also you could contact Sureguard, Vauxhall Retailer Warranties, and see if they would be willing to transfer the claim to a different dealership, which usually isn't a problem

Personally, it sounds as if the dealership you have used only pays for parts once authorised and paid for by Suregaurd

Anyway two weeks for a new part direct from VX sounds quite typical
Some of the parts for my car take up to six weeks, they have to come from Germany
