Default CDTI 150 - potential knackered Alternator?

    ****** thing!!!

Driving to work this am - battery light comes on... and revs idle at 1100 or so...

Get to work - forget about it and go to drive home.. Turn on ignition, spanner light!! - but no battery light. Start driving, 2 mins down the road, revs go to 1100 and then battery light comes on..

Get home and put a meter on the battery.

    Car off - 13.3volts
    Car on - 12.4 volts

Oh Dear - is this an alternator issue?? me thinks so....

    Car is a 2005 SRI CDTI 150

    Thanks
    Anthony

Sounds like it. I thought the voltage rose with revs so might be worth checking.

My next door neighbour has a vectra and his alternator recently gave up.. vx wanted crazy money to replace it, so he took the alternator out and took it to an auto electricians.. Turns out some board or something had gone in it and it cost him £50 to replace. A few hours later.. all good.

Well - call from the dealers this aft - and VX have said that they will not contribute as the car was over 3 years old when I bought it.!!!

To say I am angry is an understatement - they wouldnt have the fact that there was a recal on the alternator - and there wasnt one listed for my 05 CDTI..

I understand that its over 3 years old, but a little bit of descreshion wouldnt hurt - the car has only done 35k miles with full dealer history - serviced every year regardless of milage..

I'm now going to take this to VX myself as I now have a £750 bill to pay!!!!!!!! - see other thread for Vauxhall UK contact details.

    Stuff you Vauxhall! - lol

So - you all think that they should at least contribute at that milage - or am I being too harsh??

    A
