    Vehicle : Jaguar XF 3.0D V6

    Trim : Black

    Engine : 3.0D V6

    Year : 0000

    Default 2.0 DTi

A mate of mine has a weird problem with his Y reg Vectra B with DTi engine.

It starts fine, but runs slightly lumpy until it warms up, then runs smoothly but with a little black smoke.

If he then revs it it will only go to about 3000 rpm before the MIL comes on and it goes into limp mode and won't rev over 1500 rpm and gives out more black smoke than before.

He had the codes read when it was in limp mode and it gave severe problem with electrical system and also fuel pump. He didn't get the specific codes.....

He says he's checked all the boost and vacuum hoses and pipes and they are all OK.

    Any ideas???

With out the the codes it's just guess work, i had a zaffy dti years ago & the only problem i ever had with it with was the air flow meter, it wouldn't rev passed 3000 rpm either without the eml & limp mode.

I told him that too about the codes, and he's cleaned the MAF too.

Thing is, it was fine one night and not the following morning.
