    Default Another Vx Rant!!!

Come on guys join me in my rant and make me feel better..

    Ok heres the story...

Bought a 2.0DTI 54 plate vectra, Picked it up 2 weeks ago..from Evan Halshaws in Plymouth.

The first time it went back to the Dealer it had to have the wheels balanced and a 'top up' service as it was missing a few things./.. ie brake fluid change, pollen filter replacement.

Well it had to back in for the rear brake pads to be changed as they were 80% worn!!!
It also had the pulling to the left problem looked at.
The drop links were supposed to be changed due to the normal Vectra crunching noise when going over bumps...

    Well picked the car up...

    Brake Pads were done ok.

Only 1 Drop link was changed (i.e the N/S)

and the pulling to the left was resolved..... all this by 10am !!!

So obv i was dubious when i picked it up... took it for a quick spin over some bumps.... and found out that the crunch was still there and it was still pulling to the left..

Went back to the garage and took the service manager out for a test drive...

He confirmed it was still pulling to the left and the crunch hadnt been resolved...

During the drive he said.... oh when they got u coming back in to get your O/S droplink done..... of course i had not been invited back..

'Oh' He said ..... they are supposed to be done in pairs.

Well dropped him back off at the garage and he is sorting it all out and will phone me later today.....

    well.....

On the way home i had to brake heavily..... my car was dragged to the left so majorily i thought i was gonna come off the road..

So ive phoned them back up and told them its dangeours to drive.... they are sorting me out a 3dr astra to drive in the mean time untill its fixed... not sure where this astra is coming from as they only have Corsa's for courtesy cars..

So the morale of the story.........

Dont expect the monkeys at Evans Halshaws in Plymouth to fix your car!!!

    Grrrr

Will keep this post updated to let u know whats going on etc..

Well ive picked up my courtesy car..... turns out to be one of the company run arounds.

Its an Astra 58 Plate 1.6 SXI ... quite nice inside but still just a 3dr which is a tad annoying.

The car wont be fixed untill Friday so im just a tad annoyed... will be penning up letter to the general manager or area manager.... i will post it here first before sending so u can let me know how i can make it sound better etc etc.

Numpties - should have replaced the drop-links as a pair as a matter of course.

Probably the top mount bearings have collapsed. Common enough problem.

Rear pads on Vauxhalls tend to wear quicker than the fronts I've found (has done on two Astras and this Vectra).

That pulling to the left issue sounds a little more than just a drop link issue. Possibly tracking or a duff shocker? Well at least you have yanked the S.Mgrs chain now so if it comes back still unsorted you can tear him off a strip and expect it sorted properly.

Was about to suggest the same thing! Make sure it's panting and wheezing like an old dog!

And hope you've not got a bad back. Well, if you haven't, you will by Friday as Astra seats are shockingly hard with no proper lumbar support.

Snowman, you got your ears on?

Agree about the seats, Taffy. One of the reasons I chopped in my Mk5 Astra after months, could never get comfortable, and mine was a Design with the half leather sport seats. Dunno what they did with the Mk5 seats, the sport seats in my Mk4 SXi and my Corsa SXi were excellent, as are the Vectra SRi seats. Even the seat in my loaner Corsa D Club are better than the Mk5 Astra ones....
