    Default who is right........ oil

its nearly service time for the old 2.2 petrol sri 03 reg. have been trying to find some old threads b4 posting this.... have looked in ,sri oil, type of oil etc but nothing doing.
who do i listen to the man at autovaux or lads at work one says 5w/30 fully synthetic and the other 10w/40.?
i thought (me) that fully synthetic was only any good if used in an engine from the very very very first time it was fired up(production line) otherwise it wouldnt make any difference???????????

On its last service my car was topped up with

    ACEA-A3/B3

    Commonly known as 10w-40..

Just need to find something from vauxhall saying it should be 5w-30...

Right found the officall Vauxhall site on it..

    http://www.vauxhall.com/vaux/pages/f...uide/index.jsp

    Vectra
    September 1995-2002 10W-40 ACEA A3 / B3
    2002 onwards 5W-30 ACEA A3 / B3 - ECOService GM-LL-A-025, GM-LL-B-025 - ECOService Flex
    2006 onwards 5W-30 GM-LL-A-025, GM-LL-B-025 - ECOService

So depending on what service schedule your on depends on what oil u get.

As im on the ECOService 1 ..... the 10w-40 is ok

You need 5w30 fully synthetic. The guy at Autovaux was right.

10/40 is fine for up to 10k service intervals. If you want to leave it longer then use the 5/30
Now I need a turbo to keep up!
