How many types (why) of rocker covers are there on the 2.2 petrol?
Mine is all black inc. cam cover then with a silver heat sink (why) with eletric plug connected, 03 plate.
Also how do you remove the intake plasic cover without pulling to hard.

As far as i'm aware there are only two types of rocker cover..The cast alloy one for pre-direct engines and the plastic one fitted to Direct engines..
The silver heatsink and plug are for the coilpack..no HT leads on these cars as the coilpack mounts directly onto the top of the plugs..
The plastic intake cover is held on by 3 pop fixings.. These ball studs fit into rubber cups in the cover's underside.. They are tight to remove but you cannot break them..for once GM made them out of steel.. Simlpy pull up the cover starting back right and work your way round to the airbox..
If you want a piccy i'll post one of mrs GSi's 2.2 non - direct..

Thanks M.
No leads nice design.
I've seen 2 different pics but mine is different to both of them.
I will take a pic later and put it up here.
I was also under the assumption that all black ment modified chain, pulleys and oil feed.

As far as i'm aware the black covers were fitted to the direct engines only, and yes they do have the modified oilways and chains..
My SRi has the plastic cover and thats not direct but my 2.2 vecb i had before had the alloy one.....
Pic of mine
It is not direct if 'direct' stands for direct injection as I've just taken the cover off.
thats same as mine 04 non direct. there are a few others on vec b's 2.2 and astras and i havent seen the directs one yet
Think it just unclips?
