Default Head light adjustment and AFL question.

I have noticed that my headlights are now only shinning about 12 feet into the distance making night driving awkward to say the least.

Now I was lead to believe that my car has AFL but I now do not think it has, could any parts have failed so the AFL does not work at all if so is there any way of visualy checking to see if it has AFL.

Can the lights be altered to shine further even if it has got AFL.
    Thanks in advance.

If your lights have a blue ring around the dipped beam and they swing from side to side they are AFL's, they also have an extra bulb in the headlight unit and indicator lenses is more squarer

Yes, you would get an AFL warning light on the dash but looking at you're sig pic you just have the standard xenons.

This is what the AFL's look like. Notice the blue ring around the dipped beam, the smaller ''cornering light'' between dipped and main beam and also the rectangular indicators.

You could have a problem with the levelling sensors but i'd have thought that there would still be a warning light if that was the case.

Mine is a pre-facelift, my zenons were really poor booked it in and turns out somehow the self levelling system was unplugged! Although it never put the warning up on the dash that it was faulty.

When you turn on your headlights do they beams move up and down to level themselves??

After getting the ecu re-connected they were still very low so i adjusted them myself using the adjusters on the top of the headlights and they are very impressive now without going to the extent of having other drivers flashing me.

All xenon factory fit lights are self levelling. They have to be by law. AFL is completely different in that the lights move from left to right to when you tunr the steering wheel. It's so the lights shine around the corner you are turning into rather than directly in front of the car as normal.
They take a bit of getting used to. Seems weird as first driving along and the lights are swivelling left to right as you turn. They are superb though

If there moving up and down then you know the self levelling is working, adjust the beams yourself best to do i against a wall or something so that you get them both on the same level take it for a spin and smile when you see the difference

Just dont put them to high lol

P.S I know what AFL is im just trying to give the guy some advice based on what ive found with my own motor.
