Cops and seatbelts

I drive out of petrol station today and immediately stop at a red right.... next to me pulls up a police car with 2 wpc's who look about 13 years old ...
(maybe I'm getting old)

The wpc point to me to put my window down....bzzzzzzz

Me ... yes officer can I help you.

WPC ... get your effin belt on or I will effin do you.
( they didn't use effin but the real word )

Me... I'm exempt from wearing a belt as I have a medial exemption form, but, wouldn't it be better if you both had a belt on before you swear at a member of the public to put their belt on....

So they pull me over and go right through my car.. everything above board

Question 1
Are police exempt from wearing a seat belt ?
I was under the impression they are if they are transporting a prisoner in the back.

Question 2
Do any of the cops here pull other drivers over for not wearing a seatbelt when they don't have one on themselves ?

Cops are exempt mate.

No i wouldn't tell someone off for it if i wasnt wearing mine but i mostly do unless i'm about to jump out!!

Language like that should never be used by any police officer. They'd be facing a disciplinery if reported.

Still no excuse she had no idea who you were!! Gives every officer a bad name.
