    Default Autocar-Signum write up

While looking through this weeks Autocar (29th) with a good write up for the Signum:-

One Careful Owner (P27) written by James Ruppert

Is it only me or is the Signum a thing of beauty? It's like the working bloke's Maybach, with it's generous equipment levels and enough useful space in the back to do pelvic floor exercises. It's no uglier than the super sized Mercedes S-Class and even has a brutish charm in the right light. While it only seats four, 99% of the time thats more than enough. In fact, think of the Signum as a decent sized executive station wagon without the prestige badge and you won't be far from the truth. Unlike BMW 5 series, Audi A6's and Merc E class estates, though (Which at the same age cost you £10,000 more) you won't see many Signums around. Maybe you don't want to, but just as with the short lived Renault Vel Satis (another one from the misunderstood estate car mould), you should not dismiss this useful family car just because it hasn't captured the interest of UK buyers. I got feverishly exited at auction the other day when I spied a new looking 2004 2.0T model with just 10,000 miles on the clock. It was still under manufacturers warranty and finished in metallic grey. According to the trade guides it should of made £8000. It was sold for a modest £7000. Most of us worry too much about what other people think of the car we drive. We shouldn't. Neither should we fall for all that brand hype. Ideally we'd buy the car that suited our lifestyle and be unconcerned by what it said about us, or happy that it said nothing at all. If it was viewed purely on merit, the Signum would be very popular. As it is Vauxhall has to settle for spacious, underrated, comfortable and surprisingly cheap

    Couldn't agree more

At last a motoring correspondant on a down to earth wave length like most Vauxhall Signum owners. totally agree with write up, it's a vastly underated car but that's a good thing for bargain hunters.
