    Default 3.0cdti tickover ????

Hi, i have recently bought a 2004 53 plate 3.0 cdti sri vectra auto..... until recently the idle has been approx 650 rpm, until the last couple of days it intermittantly keeps idling at abouy 825rpm. I know it not a massive leap but being the auto it makes it 'creep' alot more and snatch into gear sometimes from neutral. this only seems to have started since it got cold and i have noticed a strange pattern....if the onboard computer shows above 1.5 degrees it starts up and ticks over at 650 rpm, but under that the idle picks up and stays at 825 ish....even when the car is warm and been runnin for hours. no fault lights on dash and apart from that it drives fine, is this normal?

My manual ticks over at 750ish. Not sure if the autos are different.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

This is quite a common report on Vauxhall cars; erratic idling
Typically it is caused by a dirty EGR valve and is more common on high mileage cars

However, in the 3.0 V6 CDTI this appears to occur when the engine is cold or after a long spell of running at speed
Mine usually starts at about 800rpm, then falls to about 600rpm after about 3 minutes
If I have been driving on the Motorway then come to a stop the revs are at about 600rpm, however as the coolant gauge starts to rise to about 95'C the revs increase slowly, after which the coolant temperature falls back to about 80'C and the revs return to normal

Can I suggest you look at the coolant temperature, rather than the external temperature
