    Question Signum tow bar electrics

I have just purchased a tow bar kit for my 2006 siggy ( EBAY ) and was wondering what car specific wiring gear I need ( relays etc.) Sure I read it that I need something to do with the fuse box in my car?

Any part nos. would be a big bonus

    Thanks

    Tom

Is it something to do with the bulb failure warning system on the car? Can I just scotch lock the wiring harness on or will this play havoc with the car electrics?

No, You will either need a specific plug in wiring kit for your car, about £50 or a universal wiring kit and a bypass relay (bypass relay about £25) which you scotch lock on.

I have had trouble with the latter of the two in that when using the lights, when you turn them off the trailer lights stay on until you switch off the engine!!

I would get the plug in kit, saves a lot of hassle as you dont have to get power from the battery to the relay in the back!!

just bought one of these units off ebay..i got the wiring kit that just plugs straight into the rear electrics control module(you will have to remove left trim panel where all the fuses are) and the trailer module..again plugs straight in. then a fuse in number 13 position. mine worked straight away without tech 2..and mine is a 52 reg so shouldwork on later models

Yes, bit of a **** up their, forgot to order the plug in harness when I ordered the tow bar! Will get a vaux one to suit. Did you go for the new type 13 pin socket?

How easy was the bumper to remove?

    Thanks for the replies

That sounds good mate, fitted one to a skoda octavia a few months ago and had to remove the bumper it was a pain in the arse getting the gaps correct when re fitting. Got twin exhausts to juggle but should be ok.

    Thanks
