Debadging - Is this a good way to do it?

Some earlier threads discussed using boiling water to soften the glue on badges when debadging. Some liked the idea, some did not. With this in mind I twigged that a steam generator like the ones used in painting and decorating is very good at softening plaster and the like.

Does anyone think that a steam jet would damage the paintwork and would this method work?

Not sure about steam, but a friend of mine who has a car (vinyl) graphics business and is doing this every day, told me that a hairdryer on a low heat is what he uses to remove old graphics (with a plastic scraper) and it's obviously good enough, and quick enough, for him.

how about getting a long piece of tooth floss and carefully cutting through the sticky stuff. and just polish whatever is remaining afterwards?

Warm water, hair dryer and fishing line should work ...

i used the wifes hair dryer used on the highest heat and it came of no probs

I'm just lazy...... I've seen a thread were some discussed the merit of boiling water Vs hair dryers. I was just an idea I had. I've used the walpaper stripper on a steam genny to soften dodgy plaster enough to smooth it down.
