    Default Most economic motorway speed

Got a 1.9 Veccy 150 CDTI and was wondering what motorway speed you guys found to be the most economic.

My consumption is a bit pants atm and trying to improve it a bit so thought I would call on the collective expertise here.

Replys saying that 70 is the most you can do anyway will be politely disregarded

Mines a petrol 2.0T Petrol, but I'd agree with above 60 in 6th. As soon as you hit 2.5k revs etc at 70-75ish, mine drops down considerably.

Being an auto, mine doesn't drop into 6th until I hit about 66 mph anyway, and TBH it sounds laboured at that speed in top.

I find I get best mpg on the m/way in top at an indicated 75mph. This equates to about 1750 rpm IIRC and returns anything between 48 and 53mpg depending on conditions and how many hills there are!

Overall, I average about 39 mpg [too many rural roads where I live!] and only get to use the slab at the weekends.

This tank full I have been driving my Signum easier than normal. Have been trying to keep rev's below 2000rpm and have noticed a massive improvement.

Only problem is mine is the 2.2 diesel 5 speed and that eqates to 65mph wich is very slloooow.

My previous car was a 2.0 dti Mondeo 6speed and doing fast motorway miles (dont want to get myself in trouble) I used to about 43mpg.
