Default Windows Wipers and Windows Washers

    Morning all,

Got into my 07 plate Exclusiv veccy this morning to defrost the thing. I reckon is was -5C last night. Turned on the window wipers to the first position and instead of the stop start I was expecting they stayed on all the time. I switched them off (pushing down) and they stopped at the position they were on the window instead of returning to the bottom. Rear wiper working as expected.

Window Washer pump not working either. I would imagine the water was frozen but there was no sound from the pump working. Went back to the car when the sun came up and the temp had hit a warm 0.5C and the problem had rectified itself.

Is this something I need to get checked out?

This is quite common. Mine does it too. Like you say, when it warms up they work fine.

Think some other members have had the same issue.

Snowman, you got your ears on?

Car is due for service next month, will mention it to them then. Only a problem when it is freezing.

One thought on this (and probably barking up the wrong tree given that several people have already mentioned their wipers doing the same thing...) but I had something similar once on my 06 Elite Signum...

It had Auto-Wipers, which I doubt the Exclusiv has since Vauxhall don't put anything on anything these days, and I came to defrost it one cold morning, same as you. I put the wipers to their firs setting (works off the rain sensor, so initially did nothing...) then got out and started spraying de-icer on the screen....

You can see where this is leading...

As soon as it hit the sensor, the wipers went on - covering me in de-icer fluid...

Having read that, I realise it's nothing like your problem, and just makes me sound like an idiot...
