    Default Petrol Smell

I have the smell of petrol coming from my car and im not sure what it is?

Ive never smelt it before up untill today, i know it cant be a leak because it only came on today and ive hardly drove anywere, not like ive caught it on anything.

Is it maybe because the car is working harder in the snow and its burning off quicker? The MPG has dropped to 30.7 as well and before it was around 33ish.

    Sujestions?

    Matt

Check the fuel filter. Don't know if the vectra is the same set up as the astra but my astras filter started to leak due to corrosion. Had to change it last week. Just a guess.

You might have caught the fuel filter on some frozen snow perhaps.

The fuel filter is under the car approx twelve inches in front of the rear drivers side wheel and its just a can with a pipe going into both ends. if you put your hand on it and its wet just smell your hand to see if its petrol.

My cars a GSi but im sure it will be in the same place for other models.

run ur nose around the car.... try and locate an area ish where the smell is strongest.

I had a pug 405 with a dodgy connection into the injectors that leaked every so often..

Just after a run in the car check the engine bay out and run ur hands all over the fuel pipes etc... if its wet smell to confirm!
