    Default My Vectra SRI

    Hi all,
Just wanted a bit of advice if possible...

I bought a Vectra SRI 06 reg in december... when i brought it home i noticed the steering wheel shaking!
Anyway iv had the wheels balanced 4 times now!! had it back to the garage more times than enough!! my partner and i went in to see the manager and he said the "vibration" was in my head lol
They took it out for a testdrive (about 4 times) and insisted that there was nothing wrong!

We then took it to another vauxhall dealer and he said the wheels needed balancing, 4 wheel alignement needed doing. Iv just had my car back today and its STILL doing it!!

Any advice?? my partner thinks it could be a buckeld wheel but the garage are sick of me now lol and are just not wanting to know as they are saying they have done all they can.

    Thanks

you could check for a bucked/out of round wheel by jacking it up and prying the pads off the disc a little and spinning it. if it's out far enough to feel, you should be able to see it.
or how about putting the rear wheels on the front and vice versa?

imo You need to have the guys beside you & know where the problem will occur road/speed etc & say there that's what I'm talking about. Could be you've tried this don't give up. I had a similar thing with an off set steering wheel. Took a few visit’s but we got there in the end. Good Luck..

well that's interesting then. if it still does it after swapping them round, i'd be surprised if you had more than one bucked one to be honest, or more than one so far out of balance that it shakes the wheel. like our friend, mr tadpole suggests, go back, get the service manager by the ear, park him in the passenger seat and illustrate it to him.

    edit.

to be fair, my Sri is pretty twitchy, and the wheel does jump around a bit in my hands on some roads at speed.

Tracey, my 06 Signum was exactly the same after Vx changed the front pads. Turns out that on dropping the wheels from the hubs, one of them had thrown a balance weight and that caused the wheel wobble.
What tyres have u got fitted? Take it to an independant tyre fitter and get balancing properly checked, thats what I did. Bathers all the way for me!
