    Default Auxillary Drive Belt

Wondering if anyone knows, i've got a really annoying noise coming from the auxillary belt area of my 1.9CDTi. Worse when it's cold, it's like a tssst noise every revolution of the engine. If you soak it with lube or oil it goes away. The question is, is it the tensioner or the belt that causes the noise?? Anyone had this? i don't want to spend money and not fix it! It's not too bad just really gets on my nerves because i know it's there!!!

There is only so much viscotene or lube you can put on your belt! The problem will return! Replace the belt, it shouldn't cost you more than £8.00 from a good Motor Factor.

Same on my 3.2V6. Had cam belt and auxillary belt done four months ago. In cold weather, there's a squeaking nosie but dealer says he can't here it.

When the auxillary belt was done, they didn't do the tensioner so mine/yours could be that. Could also be a dry pulley bearing or something other than the belt on its way out.

It's been suggested by others on here that you could remove the drive/auxillary belt for a couple of minutes and run the engine. This way you can either confirm or eliminate which bits are making the noise. However, this is a real pain to do on the 3.2V6. Squirtring WD40 on my newish belt makes no difference to the nosie so I'm thinking something else. However, it goes away after a few minutes so I'm not too worried. If your's is a constant noise, I'd first suspect the belt. As I don't know how much it'd be to do the tensioner as well, I'll reserve judgement.
