    Default Modding the GSi

OK guys - been out of the VX modding scene for a bit so I need some help in drafing out the options of a possible 3.2 GSi auto purchase.

I hear that the handling of these is not exactly great - what are the preferred solutions? Koni / Bilstein combo, ARB upgrade, suspension bush change...

I saw that the early C's don't give a great ride on 18's & 19's - any particular reason and would a change of springs / shox help this point? Missus doesn't like the std GSi rims so there is a good excuse to change them ...

Are there any easy power mods such as cams / throttle bodies that used to be the first port of call on the old 2.5 and 3.0 B's and Omega's.

By the time I have addressed all this would I not have been better off getting a VXR ...

All i will say is dont believe everything you read, see for yourself then decide
i have no issues with handling and have had 17's 18's and 19's
19's of course are a little harsher as the tyre profile is less than others however its worth it
(i drive an Sri so cant comment on power gains)

Not quite sure where you've heard that? GSi is lowered already with stiffer suspension - handles quite nicely.

No choice there - I don't do manuals. Main reason for plumping on the GSi / VXR - big engine, sporty (sell, sort of) and available with an auto box.

I don't think there are many tuning options available for the 3.2. Remap, air filter and thats about it. Not sure if throttle bodies are about but money talks Most I have seen out of one of them is 250bhp(ish).

There are loads of options for springs and shocks so take your pick
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

It is true that the facelift cars do drive better on the 19's than the pre-facelift, but I doubt very much it would put you off having 19's on a GSi. 18's will also be fine.

Personally I would stick with genuine Vauxhall wheels as they suit the car better. Regarding handling, they do handle OK in standard form but the newest GSi will be nearly 4 years old now so a little suspension work will do wonders for the car.

The best set up in my opinion, and I am sure I'll be backed up is to fit Bilstein Dampers (I think you need the B6's) and Eibach springs. If you do this and then re-bush 'at least' the rear suspension and possibly the front wishbones, you will see a dramatic improvement.

Tuning, the EDS re-map works very well on this engine and increases it from it's standard 208bhp t0 around 220/230bhp, GM did not use the 3.2 to it's full potential.

There are people in Germany who are fitting the VXR exhaust system to 3.2 Vectra's and it is apparently working very well. The VXR exhust is made by Remus.
