Default GSi spec - heated seats?

    Guys,

still looking around for something to replace my 2.3 Golf and the GSi or VXR are looking likely candidates but I would appreciate some finer details on a few points.

    1) Were the GSi 1/2 leather seats with the cloth inserts as fitted to a 2005 model heeated or not? I have heard talk that these were not as well equiped as one might expect them to be.

    2) Is there anywhere on-line that would have a list of the standard and optional equiptemt of the GSi and VXR?

    3) Are there any major things to look out for with either of these in auto version? I would only be looking for a sub 40k model.

    Thanks.

None of the half leather seats are heated but it can be retrofitted. Only the leather was heated as standard.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

Golf only has 3 doors - while it is by far the better option it is not so practical for getting a baby-seat in and out and there is not so much room in the boot once you have a travel-system in there! Shame as I have had it chipped and got some coilovers on it so it actually handles now

Have you found the V5 forum? I am one of the mods over there (shameless plug www.golfv5.co.uk)

Would the retro-fit be along the lines of fitting the heating element under the cloth and putting some roller switches in the dash?

The GSI is in effect an SRi V6, and should have been called this. It is pretty much an SRi with different wheels, half leather and a few other bits.

Regarding options, I have old options lists from Vauxhall from 2002, but they changed year on year.

Factory Options on GSi between 2002 and 2005 were :-

    Full Leather with heated seats
    Sunroof
    Parking sensors
    18" 11 Spoke Alloys (2004-2005)
    18" Multi Spoke Alloys (2004-2005)
    19" Snowflake Alloys (2004-2005)
    Rear Window Blinds
    Sat Nav Colour
    Sat NAV MonoChrome
    AFL Zenon Headlights
    Phone

But finding a GSi with factory options is hard and an auto with factory options even harder.

The VXR was only available with an Auto box from 2008my (available Sept 07 on) and I am told less that 20 came to the UK.

But VXR factory options are :-

    Full Leather with heated seats
    19" alloys
    Sunroof
    AFL
    Park Assist
    CD70 Nav
    Bluetooth

i think you will find the gsi is more of a sporty elite,it has a lot of similarities to the elite and sri but spec wise more elite with the sri sports items added

Thanks guys - I got the impression that VX toned things back from the original MSD GSi / Supertourer and that it was little more than a lowered Elite.

I know that the heated seat thing is a bit of a luxury but once you have had it...

If a GSi was in effect a v6 SRi then it would'nt have as standard zenon's, headlight washers, completly different spec'ed suspension, 1/2 leather, all the extra interior lights, 4 disc changer and rear electric windows. Im sure theres even more than ive listed from the top of my head.....

Hardly a v6 SRi, If you want top of the range and want comfort go for an elite, if you want they sporty feel for a GSi or a VXR.

Plenty of cheap low mileage v6's out there just now
